Beware online shoppers

I thought twice about writing this review during this national crisis but then I thought other shoppers should be warned. When buying "loose" fruit and veg which are sold EITHER as a number of pieces OR by weight, beware! You can check a box to select either a number of pieces or by weight. I selected by weight. In the dropdown box I selected 1.98kgs (their preset weight) for bananas and 2kgs for carrots. What turned up instead was 1.4kgs of bananas itemized as 10 bananas and double the weight of carrots itemized as 20 carrots (they were HUGE carrots).Tesco grocery shoppers or their computer programming did not honour my weight selection but opted to do it by pieces instead which defeats my purpose. However, I learnt a long time ago that at Tesco, it is what matters to the company that counts and not to the customer. The delivery guy showed me an email address on the delivery slip to contact if I had a problem. I did. THREE days later an email arrived saying "We are exceptionally busy just now due to an increase in customer contact as a result of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. As a result, we are currently unable to respond to emails ... If you still need to contact us, please visit our Contact Us page".I stopped shopping at Tesco 12 years ago but broke my embargo last week to my regret.12 years ago, I was at a self-check out. I doube-bagged the groceries - they were glass bottles and very heavy. I had a long distance to walk home and didn't want the single bag tearing. The staff member at the checkout stopped me and said it was against company policy to double-bag. I explained the reason why. He repeated that it was company policy. I said I would pay for the additional plastic bags. He said they do not sell bags and repeated company policy.I asked for a supervisor who NOT ONLY repeated the company policy BUT took my groceries out of the double bag (leaving them in a single bag).He THEN THREW AWAY the second plastic bag in the bin right in front of me. I protested. He said it was company policy. I wrote a complaint and the customer service rep sitting in an office somewhere behind a computer said it was not company policy. Full stop.My embargo goes back in place as well as my promise to myself: If Tesco is the last supermarket in the UK, I'll move to another country.

Never Had an issue with Tesco

Never Had an issue with Tesco, food is excellent good value for money, vegetables and fruit are always fresh and not rotten or moldy like some other stores. Very cheap and always price matched to other stores give or take a penny, but the quality is always better. Staff are very professional, polite and very friendly, their stores are also very well laid out with plenty of room, it has always been a pleasure to shop at Tesco. Just wish they had more of a selection on some electronics for quick purchases like replacing a PC mouse, last logitech mouse I bought from tesco was very below standards, the scroll wheel broke within days and was clearly not good to start with. But that's not their fault, its the fault of logitech and a certain model m171 which is rubbish, should consider replacing this item with model m220 which is around £18 in Asda, and vastly superior in build quality.

Fabulous

Dont normally shop here as i work for a rival chain...however, being off sick due to a head injury i needed a home delivery. I couldn't get one from work for 7 WEEKS so i tried tesco...right result !! Got one for next day, no problem. Easy website, arrived on time, driver fabulous and helpful (didnt get name, sorry) all shopping present and what i wanted.Well done Tesco :-) I'll use again online or in store when I'm well enough.Delivery charge a bit OTT at £7 but small price to pay for this service at these times.

Don't Order the Carrots

Average. Managed to get a delivery slot a month ago and groceries turned up last week. Delivery was on time and driver helpful. Substitutions were more expensive and not to my taste though. For example, I ordered Holsten Pils but some joker decided to substitute the abomination that is Budweiser. Fresh stuff was mostly okay but carrots were slimy, black and rotten. I haven't been able to get another Tesco delivery since but will keep trying after the utterly abysmal service I have received from Morrisons
